How do you use effectively Transcription Aid® depends on whether you work alone (with the Preferred or Professional version of Dragon NaturallySpeaking®) or with the help of a secretary (Professional version of Dragon NaturallySpeaking® only).
To dictate and correct yourself the automatic transcriptions of your dictations you only need one license of Dragon NaturallySpeaking® Preferred or Professional and one license of Transcription Aid®, with one professional headset and one certified USB foot pedal. Of course, a powerful PC with at least 512 megabytes of RAM memory will be ideal.
With this setup, you could:
- to dictate with Dragon NaturallySpeaking® Professional, save the transcriptions and correct them yourself with Transcription Aid® and the help of the bundle foot pedal, as well as improving your user "Speech files" for further accuracy, later on
- or dictate outside of the office in virtually any digital recording device, to transcribe and correct yourself your voice recordings with the Preferred or Professional version of Dragon and Transcription Aid®, later on.
Note that, in case you dictate exclusively out of the office, you will only need the much cheaper Preferred version of Dragon NaturallySpeaking®.
| You work with a secretary... |
If you work with a secretary and one or two PCs, there are different ways to organize your work as illustrated in our Workflow diagram hereunder.

You dictate either on Dragon NaturallySpeaking® Professional (the “DragonPad”), Microsoft Word® or, eventually, Transcription Aid® main window. You can even mix up your dictation with processing instructions and comments for the secretary. You save the transcription and corresponding voice recording (the ".dra" file). You send it to the secretary either through the network or through the Internet (using the "Pack & E-Mail transcription for revision" utility of Transcription Aid® in the latter case).

Eventually, you can also dictate outside of the office in virtually any digital recording device, for your secretary to transcribe your recording with Transcription Aid® running on her PC later on.

In both cases, your secretary will open your transcription within Transcription Aid® and correct the eventual misrecognitions (approximately 2% to 3%) by comparing the text with your voice recording for verification purposes. She will use a certified USB foot pedal for outmost performance and comfort... the secretary can introduce the corrections directly and quickly in the transcription (main window of Transcription Aid®) or use the Dragon Spell window to also improve your "Speech files" for further accuracy. She will also delete all your processing instructions and comments after executing them... it is so easy and effective, that is difficult to believe it!
